The multifaceted changes that are rapidly reforming our communities require an intense remodeling of how we look at 21st century challenges and critical issues. Mobility Observatory and Data Analytics (MODAL) is a multidisciplinary and multiparadigmatic lab bringing together what has often been an isolated and retrospective discipline, and makes it integrative and proactive. Our research is informed by a deep commitment to professional practice and draws on different disciplines, including engineering, planning, computer science, statistics, geography, and big data analysis. A common theme running through our research activities is to use new forms of data, identify novel solutions, develop advanced methods, and introduce innovative theories in the domains of human mobility, community resilience, urban informatics, and smart and connected communities.
MODAL always seek outstanding Graduate Research Assistants from a variety of backgrounds to join our lab. Candidates should have strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and outstanding communication skills and have the desire to work collaboratively in a vibrant work culture. Above all, candidates should have a desire to look at transport through a different lens, think out of the box, and be prepared to be challenged by these new ideas.
